Effective networking is the process of linking together individuals who, through trust and relationship building, become advertisements for one another. Networking is about being genuine and authentic,
building trust and relationships. Evaluate your goals in participating in networking meetings so that you will get what you are looking for. Visit as many meetings as possible that spark your interest.
Hold volunteer positions in BWS. This is a great way to stay visible and give back to group. Ask open-ended questions in networking conversations. Questions that ask who, what, where, when, and how
as opposed to those that can be answered with a simple yes or no. This form of questioning opens up the discussion and shows listeners that you are interested in them. Become known as a powerful
resource for others. When you are known as a strong resource, people remember to turn to you for suggestions, ideas, names of other people, etc.
Network To Secure Additional Leads, Referrals And Sales
Have a clear understanding of what you do and why, for whom, and what makes you different from others doing the same thing. To get referrals, you must first have a clear understanding of what you do
and easily articulate to others.
Be able to articulate what you are looking for. Follow through quickly and efficiently on referrals you are given. When people give you referrals, your actions are a reflection on them. Respect that and your referrals will grow. Call those who may benefit from what you do and
vice versa.

Introduce Yourself And Your Business At All Networking Events
The Small Business Lunch Mixer allows African American Business owners from 50th Avenue to city line Bound by International Boulevard, and black businesses throughout the Bay Area to meet and greet. Every business in attendance will have an opportunity to speak about their product or service. Bring samples and business cards. Networking Lunches allow owners to express well thought out visions for the future of our black business district.

BWS Events
Festivals & Events Black history Month events, Annual music and arts festival, free jam sessions, summer noon concerts series, winter holiday festivities, and BWS Merchant Give-A-Way days. These activities are planned by BWS members to create a lively atmosphere and attract consumers.
