AM/PM Mini-Mart, on International Blvd. at 98th Ave., is celebrating its 32nd anniversary in Oakland. Established as an ARCO service station in 1976 by the late Oakland businessman Billy Joe Ambers, it has remained in the Ambers family for three decades.
We have a strong track record for hiring young people in the community and providing them with a sense of work ethic and responsibility,” said Brent Ambers, station owner and board director of the Black Wall Street Merchants Association.
My father was a great man and father first, and then an outstanding businessman. I plan on passing on that same knowledge and wisdom to my children.
AM/PM has been a true community business that has provided employment to hundreds of people, and more importantly, quality service. said Rev. Dr.Michael Carter, Sr., national chairman of the Black Wall Street Merchants Association and board member of the Oakland Black Board of Trade and Commerce.
We should recognize the Ambers for their longevity and commitment to Oakland and to black business.
The anniversary celebration takes place in late, May 2008. Festivities are all day and include food, games, music and give-a-ways.
